Job Function:
Under the direction of the Technical Superintendent, the Port Engineer Organises & directs activities to provide efficient & effective maintenance for tugs, barges, floating cranes & special vessel, operated by the company within Indonesia.
Education:
Marine background, ATT III
Previous Experience
Two years offshore experience as a Chief Engineer or equivalent
Prerequisites:
Good oral & written communication skills
Overall knowledge of marine operations
Can conduct an accident investigation
First Aid Lvl 2 certified
Knowledge of the methods, practices & procedures for vessel maintenance
Knowledge of the BV / GL / ABS & KI class requirements
Skilled in mechanical & electrical troubleshooting
Demonstrated ability to speak & write effectively in English
Ability to communicate effectively with third parties
Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise a team of mechanics, electricians & welders
Demonstrated ability to understand technical drawings & manuals
Proactive
Demonstrates the application of e-mail, MS Word and XL software
General Duties & Responsibilities:
Understands and promotes the company Safety Procedures
Promotes the use of PPE at the work place
Ensure that tools, equipment & environment at the work place are compliant with the company safety procedures Performs other duties as assigned
Ensure that the availability of his vessel(s) maintained at optimum levels
Promotes work safety discipline in accordance with the company Safety Management System
Actively promotes the routine use of the electronic Maintenance Management System
Promotes industry best practice in work methods
Ensures sufficient spares & materials are held on site to support planned & breakdown maintenance
Actively participate in the budgeting process & the ongoing monitoring of expenditure
Liaison & supervision with contractors on warranty, maintenance & modification work
